The beginning months of the war were quiet — each side mustering forces, securing arms and ships. The Alliance Directorate appoints Geoffrey Devchenko as General-in-Chief of all Alliance Forces. Knowing that supplies were key to the Independent Forces, Devchenko issued a blockade of the Red Sun System. Although the system capital of Jiangyin was a relatively peaceful takeover, an assault on Greenleaf proved futile and General Rosamund Frey is replaced by Arthur Pruitt as commander of Alliance forces in the system. For the rest of the year, Pruitt blockades planets to surrender, easily taking smaller worlds.
The Georgia System, stronghold for the Independent Forces, moved it’s capital from Athens to Hera in early June, but an Alliance assault lead by General Yu Kwan that same month retakes it’s former member world. Independents regain control, fighting off the Alliance occupation, in September.
For Independent General Prudence Vaughn, the Alliance’s failed assault to capture Verbena against her much smaller fleet is reason to smile.
