War in Red Sun

Date Event
November 7, 2505 Independent Planets of Georgia form a coalition focused on the defense of their system from Reaver threat.
February 6 – 20, 2506 Alliance embargoes supplies and ships leaving the Core for the outer planets.
February 19, 2506 Invasion of Persephone
February 23, 2506 Member world Greenleaf secedes from the Alliance, joining the Independent Coalition. The planet, a major supplier of medicinal plants and medical equipment processing in the ‘Verse, could turn the tide for the Independents’ cause.
March 30, 2506 The Independent Planets of Georgia — now twenty-two worlds strong, with members in all systems of the Border and Rim — change their name to The Coalition of Independent Planets.
May 30, 2506 The Alliance directorate issues a blockade against Independent ports in Red Sun. Rural colonies are limited in their ability to stay well-supplied and to transport needed supplies out of the system.
June, 2506 The few Independent Fleet vessels present in the system are destroyed in a brief battle lead by Alliance General Rosamund Frey. Skyplexes are occupied and all movement to or from the worlds is halted. Independent Forces on the system capital of Jiangyin are defeated.
July, 2506 Under General Frey’s command, Alliance troops begin a ground invasion on Greenleaf. Pro-Independence support on Greenleaf is high and many in the medical field use their knowledge to hastily create bio-weapons. These weapons, in addition to ground and space combat, leads to a three week campaign resulting in General Frey’s bombing of facilities suspected of assisting the Independents.
August 1, 2506 General Frey is ordered to retreat to Jiangyin, where she is relieved of duty – the Alliance directorate is concerned with the financial and medical losses associated with Frey’s bombings. General Arthur Pruitt is placed in command of Red Sun Forces.
For the rest of 2506 worlds are blockaded by General Pruitt’s fleet. Smaller worlds surrender quickly, while larger, or more populated worlds, require varying degrees of force, suppression and blockading. Greenleaf is effectively shut off from all in-coming and out-going traffic.
January-May, 2507 Independent presence in the Motherlode asteroid belt forces the Alliance to begin sweeping the densely packed asteroid field, setting off charges which destroy both intended and civilian targets. Regardless, Independent activity in the Motherlode is not stopped. Instead of wasting manpower, time and ammunition, the Haijin Federal Penitentiary is established to provide an inward Alliance base in the system
October 11, 2507 St. Albans, a frigid mining world which depends primarily on imported supplies, surrenders after six months of blockading. Guerrilla attacks lead by the world’s population continue until the Alliance forces a total shut-down of the world’s transport sites. Faced again with starvation, attacks diminish.
November 10-20, 2507 The successful blockade of St. Albans allows the Alliance task force to send extra ships to support their units and key points on the surface of New Melbourne. The ten day battle leads to New Melbourne’s formal surrender on November 20th.
January 30, 2508 Almost two years after the failed occupation of Greenleaf, General Pruitt leads a second Alliance assault on the planet. He is aided by Commander Durran Haymer, a bioweapons specialist whose recent help with the Athens bombardment won the planet’s surrender.
Feburary 14, 2508 With Haymer’s assistance, the Alliance successfully occupies Greenleaf
June, 2508 The Alliance Directorate officially announces that Red Sun has been reclaimed for the Union of Allied Planets. General Pruitt, deemed the reason for the ease of conquest, replaces Etienne Mordeau as General-in-Chief of Alliance forces. Pruitt is the 5th man to hold the position in less than a year.
December 2, 2508 Alliance command ship IAV Britannia is destroyed by underground Independent Forces on New Melbourne. It’s quickly discovered that Evan Ambrose, former General-in-Chief of Alliance forces helped in the attack.
December 25, 2508 Using his knowledge of Alliance deployment and strategy, Evan Ambrose leads an invasion to retake Greenleaf. While he is unsuccessful, he does manage to ransack several supply depots and carry off an estimated ₡4,000,000 worth of much needed medical supplies. Known as “The Christmas Drop,” supplies are quickly distributed throughout the Independent Forces.
February 11, 2509 Ambrose’s overconfidance leads him to attempt a second supply theft. He is pinned in Greenleaf’s capital city of Nakitomi. Alliance Forces spend several days attempting to force his submission. After a week it’s discovered that Ambrose has left a small platoon of his troops to mask his escape. His whereabouts continue to be unknown.
